Need Advice! Accident during inspection period

Ciao everyone,

I'm hoping for some guidance. I recently purchased a 2023 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio through JE Brokerage LLC, and unfortunately, during the 14-day inspection period, I was involved in an accident and the car ended up being declared a total loss. Thankfully I had temporary insurance coverage at the time. I'm wondering if the insurance will cover me in this situation. Should I contact JE Brokerage first, or go straight to the insurance company?

Any advice would mean a lot — this is my first time dealing with something like this.

Hey there — first off, sorry to hear about the accident. The temporary insurance that comes with the inspection period is designed to cover situations like this, provided you weren't under the influence. I'd suggest reaching out to JE Brokerage's customer service team first — they deal with this kind of thing regularly. They'll likely ask you to fill out a claim form and submit any documentation you have. Their insurance coverage has you protected during the inspection window, so try not to stress too much.

Hope this helps, and keep us posted!

To clarify — I was completely sober, and the accident wasn't my fault. I have the police report and passed all tests on scene. Still, this is my first time purchasing through a brokerage like this, so I'm a bit anxious about how smoothly the process will go.

Don't worry — you'll get back what the insurance covers. JE Brokerage will keep the payment you made, but they'll work with the insurer to settle everything. The important thing is to contact them as soon as possible and provide all the details. The sooner you act, the faster this gets resolved. You've got this!

FerrariFan is right — you'll get your funds back. The only potential delay is the insurance investigation, which usually takes a few weeks. Since you have a police report, that should speed things up considerably. If you want to be extra cautious, a quick consult with a lawyer can help ensure everything moves smoothly. I've seen cases where legal guidance made the process much faster. Hang in there!

Thanks so much, everyone — your advice has been incredibly helpful! I contacted JE Brokerage, explained everything, submitted the police report, and they've already started processing the claim. They said I should receive the insurance payout soon. I also gave them power of attorney to handle the insurer directly, which seems to have streamlined everything. Once the funds come through, I'm definitely planning to purchase another car through them — just hopefully without the drama this time 😅. Thanks again for the support!

Jumping in to add my experience — I've bought two cars from JE Brokerage, and while I thankfully never had an accident, I did have a minor issue with delivery timing. Their customer service was super responsive, and they arranged everything quickly. The fact that they helped you through the insurance process so smoothly speaks volumes. Great to see it all worked out, AutoEnthusiast!

Adding my two cents — I've been following this thread and it's great to see how supportive everyone is. JE Brokerage really seems to have their process dialed in. I'm planning to bid on a Giulia Quadrifoglio soon, and reading these positive experiences (even with the unfortunate accident) gives me confidence. Thanks for sharing the details, everyone!
